KEY ADMINISTRATORS / KEY SUPPORT STAFF

SUBJECT:    Property Administrator Training - Equipment Asset Management System

The Equipment Asset Management System (EAMS) is now available for access by
campus departments via the Web. EAMS provides departmental Property
Administrators with direct on-line access to their respective inventories
and allows for inventory maintenance. The new on-line system is designed
to replace the paper and batch processing method currently in use while
providing more efficient tracking of departmental assets and real time
inventory status.

Departmental Property Administrators will have the authority to make
changes, within certain guidelines, to their equipment database in addition
to processing electronic Equipment Inventory Modification Request (EIMR)
for disposal and transfer of department assets. Other beneficial features
of the EAMS process include the ability for a department to generate
various reports on-site when needed and to initiate a search by UCID,
Serial Number, Building/Room or by an individual name.

Training sessions are scheduled to commence February 5, 1998 at Torrey
Pines Center South (TPCS), Suite 400 and will continue until all
administrators are trained. Initially, training will be limited to Property
Administrators and will be conducted twice each week on Tuesday and
Thursday from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. The purpose of the two-hour training
session is to familiarize property administrators about the functional
features of EAMS and to present important information regarding policies
and procedures for managing and maintaining the UCSD assets.

Property Administrators may enroll in an EAMS class by contacting Nancy
Kabzenell at extension 42846 or by e-mail to nkabzenell@ucsd.edu.
Requestors must include their name, department, e-mail address, phone
number or extension and the session you wish to attend. Confirmation will
be by return mail. It is requested that cancellations be made 24 hours
prior to the scheduled class to allow sufficient time for the Equipment
Management staff to find a replacement attendee.

We encourage all business managers and property administrators to visit the
EAMS web site at https://bfsweb2.ucsd.edu/eams for an introduction to some
of the features of this exciting new asset management program.
