SUBJECT:    Implementation of $1,500 Threshold for Equipment

The initial campus notice on this topic was distributed in April, 1998.
This follow up notice is intended to provide additional information for all
people at UCSD who may be impacted by this change.

Please consult the web site at http://www-bfs.ucsd.edu/pur/EquipMgmt/ for
information on the implementation plan and answers to frequently asked
questions. In addition to e-mail links on this web site, please feel free
to contact any one of the following subject area experts for further
information regarding the increase in the threshold level for inventoried
equipment from $500 to $1,500.

A final reminder that the fiscal year 1998/99 is a transition year for
equipment purchased on sponsored projects funding, and that all proposals
having performance periods after July 1, 1999, should be using the new
threshold level. Again, please consult the web site noted above and/or the
subject matter experts for further information so that we may achieve a
smooth implementation of this change.
