OFFICE OF THE ASSISTANT VICE CHANCELLOR - HUMAN RESOURCES February 9, 1999 KEY ADMINISTRATORS / KEY SUPPORT STAFF STAFF PERSONNEL POLICY MANUAL HOLDERS SUBJECT: Changes to UCSD Implementing Procedure 30/Salary and 30/Sea Pay This notice is to inform you of approved changes to two UCSD implementing procedures, 30/Salary (HR-S-1) and 30/Sea Pay (HR-S-2). 30/Salary (HR-S-1): A campus notice was issued on November 19, 1998 informing you of a proposal to eliminate the 15 percent limitation on salary increases associated with promotions and upward reclassifications for non-exclusively represented employees. Following a positive response from the campus community during the comment period, this modification has been approved effective February 1, 1999. The revised procedure is accessible at: http://www-hr.ucsd.edu/~qwl/policies/sp30.html 30/Sea Pay (HR-S-2): (PLEASE NOTE: This procedure only applies to sea-going employees at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.) Following notice to affected employees, this implementing procedure was also modified effective October 1, 1998. Changes to section III(A) allow Captains and Engineers to cash out all, or a portion of, the accumulated Shore Leave when, due to operational considerations, it could not be taken off within a reasonable time frame. Changes also allow Assistant Marine Superintendents and Marine Superintendents to receive Shore Leave and Sea Pay Differential when sailing as members of the crew and acting in the capacity of Captain or Chief Engineer. The revised procedure is accessible at: http://www-hr.ucsd.edu/~qwl/policies/sp30sio.html Revisions to the Personnel Policies for Staff Members Manual are no longer being issued in hard copy format. Manual holders who continue to require a hard copy Manual are requested to discard the prior issuances dated November 1, 1997 (HR-S-1) and September 1, 1996 (HR-S-2), print the revised issuances from the web addresses listed above, and file them as replacements in your manuals. Questions regarding these procedural changes may be directed to Judy Johnson, Compensation Manager, at jjohnson@ucsd.edu or extension 40986. Rogers Davis Assistant Vice Chancellor - Human Resources |
