EXTERNAL RELATIONS

KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF
SUBJECT: Name Change for External Relations
The division of Development and University Relations has changed its name
to External Relations, effective immediately. The change is in acknowledgment of the unit's core mission and the constituencies we serve, both inside and outside the University.
External Relations' mission is to cultivate and mobilize external support
for the University. This support comes in many forms and from a variety of constituencies, including donors; foundations; business; state and federal funding agencies; legislators; alumni; the news media; and volunteers. We feel that the name External Relations succinctly reflects the breadth of these audiences. The departments within External Relations remain the same: Alumni Relations;
Development; Governmental and Community Relations; Information and Financial
Systems; Science and Technology Policy and Projects; Special Events &
Protocol; UC San Diego Foundation; and University Communications.
