SUBJECT: All University Commencement Ceremonies - June 12, 1999
As you know, Dr. Irwin Jacobs, CEO and Chairman of QUALCOMM,
Incorporated will address UCSD's graduating class of 1999 at the All University commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, June 12, at 10:00 a.m, at the RIMAC Field. Dr. Jacobs was one of the first
members of the UCSD engineering faculty, and he helped develop
the engineering programs in electrical and computer engineering.
All faculty members are invited to take part in this unified campus
commencement by marching in an academic procession that will precede
the graduating students, and I am writing to encourage your attendance.
All participants in the faculty procession will need to wear academic
regalia. Many of you have been designated as official commencement
participants in one of the College, SOM, or Graduate ceremonies and
have already placed orders for caps and gowns. Other faculty have
their own academic regalia. Those of you who wish to march in
the faculty procession who have NOT already made arrangements for caps
and gowns will need to order your academic regalia directly from
the UCSD Bookstore, NO LATER THAN 3:30 p.m, on TUESDAY, MAY 18, 1999.
Orders may be placed as follows:
