OFFICE OF BUDGET OPERATIONS, PLANNING AND ANALYSIS June 23, 1999 KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF POLICY & PROCEDURE MANUAL HOLDERS SUBJECT: Course Materials Fees PPM 120-9 In May 1996, Chancellors were delegated the authority to establish Course Material Fees. At UCSD, the Course Material Fees Committee was charged to develop campus procedures for the submittal and review of these fees. Course Materials Fees are established to recover the costs of materials to be consumed, retained or used by the students, the special costs associated with use of University-owned tools, musical instruments, or other equipment, or the cost of other materials or services necessary to provide a special supplemental educational experience of direct benefit to the student. PPM 120-9, Course Materials Fees, is being issued to set out the guidelines and procedures as established by the Committee for addressing Course Materials Fees.
