HUMAN RESOURCES December 2, 1999
The 25th Annual Staff Association Holiday Pancake Breakfast will be held December 15, 1999 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., at the Price Center Ballrooms A & B. Get your picture taken with Santa; bring a NEW, UNWRAPPED TOY (no plush toys please) for the children at the UCSD Healthcare's Pediatrics Unit; have fun with the prize raffle (there's a computer this year!); buy some homemade goodies at the bake sale; and have your Vice Chancellor serve you coffee and a hot breakfast! This is the holiday event you don't want to miss! FOOD and TOY DRIVE DONATIONS will be collected at various locations around campus between December 1-12 (see list below). Breakfast tickets may be purchased in advance for $4.50 or purchased on December 15th for $5.00 at the door. Departments that wish to recharge tickets may contact Cindy Lyons at 47149 or cglyons@ucsd.edu. Please don't forget about the UCSD Pediatrics Unit donation fund which was established to honor the memory of Bob Gudgeon. Bob delighted us for many years as Santa at the breakfast and at the UCSD Healthcare's Hillcrest Medical Center. His warm compassion for the children at the Pediatrics Ward will not be forgotten. Donations to the memorial fund will be given to the UCSD Healthcare's Pediatrics Unit. Thanks for helping out and see you at the breakfast! It'll be fun! ......................TOY DRIVE Suggestion List
1. Deluxe Chess Set Most of the children who are patients at the Medical Center are seriously, chronically, or terminally ill. The children have cancer, cystic fibrosis, kidney failure, and a multitude of other diseases and conditions. There is never a "good" time to be seriously ill, but it is particularly traumatic for children during the holidays. A toy can sometimes make a major difference for many of the children! __________________________________________________________ ......................FOOD DRIVE SUGGESTIONS The San Diego Food Bank & Their Beneficiaries Thank You! All non-perishable foods in glass, cans, boxes, packages and bulk cases are acceptable. The San Diego Food Bank was established by the Neighborhood House Association in 1977. Its mission is to combat hunger in San Diego County; solicit, collect and distribute donated and purchased food to those in need; serve as an advocate for the hungry; and educate the public about issues relating to hunger. The Food Bank distributes nearly 11,000,000 pounds of food annually - enough for more than 20,000 meals every day of the year. The Holiday Food Drive collects more than 35,000 pounds of food enough for 30,000 families. Volunteers contribute more than 30,000 hours annually to help the Food Bank fulfill its mission. ________________________________________________________________ |
