SUBJECT:    All-Campus Commencement - June 12, 1999

Following is important information about the All Campus
Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, June 12, at 10:00 a.m.,
at the RIMAC Field. As you know, Dr. Irwin Jacobs, CEO and
Chairman OF QUALCOMM will address UCSD's graduating class
of 1999.

The appended information provides pertinent procedural
details. We will keep you informed of changes if they
occur. Your participation in honor of the graduating
class will be appreciated by the graduates and their
families. I look forward to seeing you at the
celebration.

Parking--Faculty and guests should park in designated
parking on the main campus (North Campus and Muir College).
You are encouraged to car pool.

Academic Regalia--All participants in the faculty
procession are required to wear academic regalia.

(1) Faculty who ordered regalia from the Bookstore before
May 18 will be advised when caps and gowns may be picked up.

(2) Regalia for those faculty who placed orders with the
Bookstore on June 1st or 2nd will be delivered to the
robing venue on June 12.

Staging/Robing--Procession participants for the morning
ceremony must gather in RIMAC Activity Room 1 (3rd Floor,
Main Entrance) at 9:00 a.m. Academic Senate and Bookstore
staff will be available to assist with robing. Light
refreshments will be provided. There will be no space to
store or hang clothing, and there is no place to secure
valuables. It promises to be a long day, particularly
for those of you who are also participating in the
afternoon college graduation ceremonies. You are urged
to dress comfortably and bring sun screen.

Tickets--Following is information concerning ticket
distribution:

(1) Faculty who ordered regalia from the Bookstore
before May 18 may pick up one procession participant
ticket and four guest tickets from the Bookstore at
the same time that they pick up their caps and gowns.

(2) Faculty who ordered regalia from the Bookstore on
June 1st or 2nd may pick up one procession participant
ticket and four guest tickets at the Academic Senate
Office, 215 University Center on Tuesday, June 8 and
Wednesday, June 9 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.

(3) Additional tickets, if needed, may be obtained from
the Academic Senate Office on Thursday, June 10, between
10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
