SUBJECT:    Childcare Services to Surrounding Community Offered at ECEC

The Early Childhood Education Center (ECEC) is pleased to
announce a change in the availability of childcare services
that will benefit both campus families and the surrounding
community. Effective immediately, when the waiting lists of
campus families are exhausted in any given age group, 5% of
the enrollment will open up to the community at large.
Implementing this change will allow ECEC to fulfill their
commitment of offering quality service at competitive prices
to the families of students, faculty, and staff. Maintaining
full capacity in all age groups is the most important factor
towards achievement of this commitment.

Tuition rates for members of the community will be higher than
those charged to campus families. A comparison between the
campus rates and community rates is shown below.

Infants (11 - 24 months) $775 $671
Toddlers (24 - 36 months) $725 $637
Preschoolers (3 - 5.5 years) $600 $592

At the current time, ECEC has 10 openings in the preschool
group. This group is composed of children between the ages
of 3 and 5. If you have any friends or relatives that might
be interested in this opportunity, please have them contact
the ECEC at 534-2768 for an application. The spaces will
be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

The ECEC is dedicated to serving the childcare needs of the
campus'students, faculty and staff by providing a safe,
nurturing environment at affordable prices. By opening
enrollment on a limited, structured basis to the surrounding
community, the ECEC looks forward to providing the services
required by the families of the campus community well into
the future.

Please send comments, questions or suggestions to Josie Foulks,
Director of the ECEC, (jfoulks@ucsd.edu).
