Call for Vice Chancellor/Departmental Proposals for Funds

I am pleased to announce the call for Vice Chancellor/departmental proposals for Staff Equal Opportunity Enrichment Program (SEOEP) funds for the 2000-01 fiscal year. Vice Chancellor units, departments, or departments in collaboration with other departments are invited to submit proposals for funds to support departmental training and development programs which will enhance the job skills of employees to prepare them for career advancement.

The proposed activity must benefit a minimum of three individuals and reflect supplemental funding in the total funds requested. Annually, we seek to fund several projects. Last year, eight projects were funded with a total allocation of $98,000.

The program funds must be utilized to enhance the skills of employees to prepare them for career advancement at UCSD by:

  1. Providing on-the-job training by placing participants in temporary positions (i.e., casual or internship) or by creating temporary positions for the participants, or

  2. Providing classroom training.

One of UCSD's objectives is to increase diversity in career positions. Implementation of the SEOEP is one method by which this objective may be achieved. The SEOEP is in compliance with applicable federal and state laws and UC policies.

For the selection criteria and proposal guidelines, please go to the Equal Opportunity/Staff Affirmative Action web page below:

Please submit 12 copies of your completed proposal to the Equal Opportunity/Staff Affirmative Action, Division of Human Resources, at mail code 0923 no later than Monday, April 17, 2000.

The SEOEP Committee will review the proposals and send notification letters of decisions on funding by the end of June 2000.

Please direct questions to Patty Arnett at Equal Opportunity/ Staff Affirmative Action via e-mail at mailto:parnett@ucsd.edu or by calling extension 46466.
