SUBJECT:  Construction Alert - Road Closure
Intersection of Gilman Drive and Voigt Drive

In order to complete some utility work, the intersection of Gilman Drive and Voigt Drive will be closed for three nights next week. This intersection will be closed from September 5th through September 7 (Tuesday through Thursday) - hours of closure will be from 6:00 pm to 5:00 am. There will be no vehicular access available during these times (with the exception of emergency vehicles).

This closure is necessary to complete the underground utility work along Gilman Drive and Voigt Drive and the connection of the utilities into the tunnel currently being constructed under Interstate 5. This project will provide the additional electrical capacity urgently needed to support the rapid expansion of the main (west) campus. It will also enhance the utility services (electrical, water, telephone and gas) to the east campus to supply the new UCSD facilities planned for development in the near future. Also reclaimed water will be connected from the east side via the tunnel to supply irrigation to the newly constructed Warren Field. Suggested alternate driving routes to the east campus would be Genesee Avenue to Regents Road or La Jolla Village Drive to Regents Road (and vice versa from the east campus). Please schedule your route during the above times to avoid the Gilman and Voigt intersection.

If you have any questions please contact project managers Anka Fabian at (858) 534-3813 or Gerry White at (858) 534-2987.
