SUBJECT:   Appointment of Associate Chancellor
                    Professor Laura Schreibman

I am pleased to announce that Professor Laura Schreibman has agreed to serve as Associate Chancellor, starting in Spring Quarter 2000.

Professor Schreibman, a member of the Department of Psychology, specializes in the area of applied behavior analysis. She is well known for her work on the experimental analysis and treatment of childhood autism. Professor Schreibman has served on numerous Academic Senate committees, including the Committee on Academic Personnel and the Committee on Committees, and was chair of her department between 1991 and 1994. In addition, she was the recipient of the 1993-4 Faculty Research Lecturer award.

Although Professor Schreibman will not fully assume her duties as Associate Chancellor until April 1, she will begin attending meetings this quarter to familiarize herself with the activities of my office. Please join me in welcoming her to my administrative staff.
