SUBJECT:    Diversity Council Town Hall Meeting

The members of the UCSD Diversity Council and I will convene a Town Hall meeting beginning at 11 a.m. Jan. 18, in the Price Center Ballroom. The purpose of the meeting is to update the campus community on the activities of the Diversity Council during its first year and to open a forum for discussion on diversity issues.

Informational tables will be set up by 11 a.m. to display diversity materials by participating groups throughout the campus. The program will begin at 11:30 a.m. and I will join members of the Diversity Council in reporting on diversity activities and discussing them with the audience.

I am approving a two-hour administrative leave with pay on Jan. 18 so employees may attend the event. Supervisors may allow employees two hours of administrative leave to attend the event when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.

All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in the Town Hall meeting to share their thoughts on increasing diversity on campus and setting diversity goals for UCSD.
