SUBJECT:  PPM 230-10 -- Academic Leave Policy

In response to the needs of academic employees, department chairs, and deans in processing requests for sabbatical and other types of academic leaves of absence, University and campus policies have been incorporated into the Policy and Procedure Manual. PPM 230-10, dated 10/1/00, is designed to detail leave policies and procedures for academic appointees at UCSD and to provide quick access to the general policies, procedures, and approval authority charts specific to this campus.

University-wide academic leave of absence policies for academic appointees in the UC system, from which UCSD local policies are derived, may be found in the Academic Personnel Manual (APM), Sections 700-760.

Individuals who are involved in requesting or submitting requests for such leaves are urged to read this PPM carefully. Any questions regarding this policy should be directed to the Academic Personnel Office.
