SUBJECT:  Postal Service Rate Hike

The U.S. Postal Service has announced that they would allow the recommended decision of the Postal Rate Commission (PRC) to raise the price of a First Class letter to 34 cents. The average 4.6% across-the-board rate increase will go into effect January 7, 2001. Beginning December 15, 2000, 34 cent stamps will go on sale at the Price Center Post Office and the Mail Services Office located in the Campus Services Complex.

Here is a brief summary of the changes using examples from the most popular rates used by campus departments.
