SUBJECT:    Performance Appraisal and Salary Review for Professional and Support Staff Employees

Policy 23/Performance Appraisal of the UC Personnel Policies for Staff Members (PPSM) states that the performance of each employee shall be appraised annually. This Notice is intended to serve as a reminder that the appraisal of Professional and Support Staff (PSS) employees should be completed.

If you have already initiated performance appraisals for PSS employees using the previously existing form, you may complete the FY 99/00 cycle using that form. Should you choose to complete the performance appraisal using the newly developed performance appraisal model, you may select any one of the four UCSD Performance Appraisal and Development Models. The Models and Implementing Procedures 23/Performance Appraisal are accessible on the Human Resources Department website at:

http://www-hr.ucsd.edu/~qwl/

The performance appraisal process for Professional and Support Staff (PSS) employees is a critical element in determining the salary increase recommendations for this category of staff members who are covered by the UC Personnel Policies. Therefore, managers and supervisors are encouraged to complete the performance appraisal process for all PSS employees not later than August 31, 2000.

Inquiries regarding this Notice may be directed to Jonnie Craig-Winston, Director of Policy Development and Quality of Work/Life, at jcraig@ucsd.edu or (858) 534-9659.
