SUBJECT:  Veterans Day and Monthly Working Hours Calendar

This Notice is provided to communicate that Staff Policy 40/Holidays has been revised to include November 11, Veterans Day, in the list of holidays observed by the University. In keeping with University Policy and the State's observance of Veterans Day, when November 11 falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday will be observed, and when the date falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be observed. The revision to Policy 40/Holidays is effective June 1, 2000. This Policy is accessible on the UC Office of the President's website in HTML and PDF formats at:

The UC Monthly Working Hours Calendar for FY 00-01 and 01-02 has been changed to incorporate Veterans Day into the list of UC holidays, and to reflect the resulting number of working days and hours in each month. The Calendar is accessible on the UC Office of the President's website at:

At this time, the Veterans Day holiday has been approved for non-represented employees. For employees exclusively represented by Collective Bargaining Agreements, the terms of the specific Bargaining Agreement will govern the applicability of the Veterans Holiday. Negotiations to provide this holiday to represented employees and to fulfill the University's legal obligations to bargain changes in terms and conditions of employment are currently in progress with union representatives.

Policy Manual Holders should print and file copies of the revised Policy 40/Holidays and Monthly Working Hours Calendar for FY 00-01 and 01-02 in their UC Personnel Policies for Staff Members Manual, and update the Table of Contents accordingly.
