SUBJECT: Campuswide High Voltage Electrical System Construction
                     Alert

During the next five months, the final phase of construction will be performed on the Campus High Voltage Electrical System. This work includes the connection and start up of a new Cogeneration Plant, new high voltage cabling underneath Interstate 5 and the installation of a third transformer at our main campus electrical substation.

In the future, a construction alert will be issued one week prior to the date of any major work on the system that could cause electrical service disruption. Please note that work on the system will be performed on January 6, 2001, therefore, this is the first of these scheduled construction alerts.

All efforts will be made to perform construction with no impact on the operation of the campus electrical system. However, we recommend that operations that are sensitive to minimal voltage variations be curtailed during these construction alert periods to avoid any possible damage to laboratory and building equipment.

The completion of these projects will enhance the electrical supply and distribution reliability to the campus.
