SUBJECT:  Recycling Heroics Awards

The Waste Minimization Advisory Committee (WMAC) is pleased to announce the 2001 Recycling Heroics Awards.

The Recycling Heroics Awards have been established to promote Recycling and source reduction practices in UCSD offices and departments. Awardees will receive a gold recycling emblem pin and a certificate in appreciation of their dedication.

Nominations are accepted year round and the Waste Minimization Advisory Committee makes awards once a year on or near Earth Day, April 22. The last day to submit nominations is March 30, 2001 and announcements for 2001 will be made at the Recycling Heroics Ceremony on April 27, 2001.

Criteria
Recycling Heroics Recipients are selected based on the following criteria:
--proponents of recycling in their offices/departments
--encourage others to recycle, reduce, reuse and buy recycled
--go one step beyond in their recycling
--assure that the office/departmental recycling effort continues
--believe in recycling and source reduction

Nomination process:
Nominations are accepted via e-mail to khenkels@ucsd.edu or in hard copy to Krista Henkels at MC 0908. Nominations should be 100 words or less with nominee's name, building, department, office location, and why this person should receive the Recycling Heroics Award. Nominations will be forwarded to the Waste Minimization Advisory Committee for consideration and award.

All Campus Staff and Faculty are eligible for this program. We look forward to recognizing our 2001 Recycling Heroes.
