FINANCIAL AID OFFICE

KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF

SUBJECT:  Name Change for Student Financial Services

Effective immediately, Student Financial Services (SFS) will be re-named the Financial Aid Office (FAO). We feel this name will more clearly designate the role of the FAO to prospective students, parents and the general public and reduce confusion between our office and other campus financial operations. The name FAO is in line with usage on the other UC campuses.

Under the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, the Financial Aid Office is responsible for administering all undergraduate financial aid, and need based graduate financial aid. Over $100 million is awarded annually to approximately 10,000 students. Financial aid packages are made up of grants, scholarships, loans and work from federal, state, university and private sources.

The FAO provides counseling to students and families on obtaining financial aid, meeting college costs and working with federal, state and private agencies in obtaining eligibility for outside programs.

The FAO is part of the enrollment management team and provides workshops and information to the community as part of the university's outreach program.
