KEY ADMINISTRATORS / KEY SUPPORT STAFF SUBJECT: IR/PS Dean Search Applications and nominations are invited for the position of Dean of the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS). IR/PS is a professional school that prepares students for careers in international affairs. The School focuses on the Pacific Region with strong programs dealing with the Asia Pacific and Latin American regions. After consultation and due deliberation, the Search Committee has decided to commence the search for the IR/PS Dean by considering candidates internal to the UCSD campus. The Search Committee is seeking candidates with distinguished academic backgrounds who have demonstrated leadership and academic administrative abilities. Duties include strategic planning and implementation of faculty recruitment/promotion, student admission/career placement, curriculum, degree and nondegree programs, research programs, fund raising, external relations, resource management, staff administration, alumni relations, dealing with Pacific Rim institutions and people, and liaison with campus administration and other campus units. Candidates must hold full-time, senior-level, tenured UCSD faculty appointments. The Dean will be appointed to serve at 100% time for a five-year term, renewable following appropriate review.
