SUBJECT:  The CEP Policy on Midterm & Final Examinations

As you will recall, the Committee on Educational Policy (CEP) recently clarified language in the CEP Policy on Midterm and Final Examination Policy. However, subsequent inquiries regarding the policy required CEP to further review the language under 2(i). CEP concluded the following:

- Faculty must be physically present in the examination room for the entire final examination, except in special cases when an exam is given in more than one room.

Again, it is the hope of CEP that this clarification will provide both faculty and administrators with a clearer understanding of the policy, thereby diminishing misunderstandings. Exceptions to the policy must be approved by CEP.
