SUBJECT: Staff Retention and Support Steering Committee-Open During my recent State-of-the-Campus Addresses, I acknowledged the appointment of the Staff Retention and Support Steering Committee (SRSSC) charged with guiding and monitoring the activities of a number of committees, teams, and organizations that will be reviewing our processes and systems for supporting our staff during this next decade of unprecedented growth. In order for our campus to sustain its excellence, and thrive during this period of rapid change, we must be sure to provide our staff with the tools, resources, processes, and work environment that will allow them to be successful in carrying out their duties. The Staff Retention and Support Steering Committee are providing the following opportunities for input from the campus community in achieving this goal.

Thursday, June 14, 2001 I am approving a two-hour administrative leave with pay for these events. Supervisors may allow employees a two-hour administrative leave with pay to attend one of the above open forums when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties. UCSD Geisel Library Information Desk In addition to the above open forums, ten (10) focus group sessions will be conducted during the months of May and June with randomly selected individuals. This same questionnaire will be used in the focus group sessions. Your time and participation in the above efforts are greatly appreciated.
