SUBJECT:  Director, Office of Post Award Financial Services

I am pleased to announce that Dan Gilbreath joined Business & Financial Services as Director, Office of Post Award Financial Services (OPAFS, formerly Extramural Funds Accounting), effective May 14. Dan brings a wealth of leadership experience in higher education business administration from a long and successful career at San Diego State University, where he also earned bachelor and MBA degrees. Dan served in various fiscal and project management positions, culminating in ten years as University Controller.

The new designation of Office of Post Award Financial Services (OPAFS) was chosen to more clearly delineate the services provided, which focus on support for sponsored project administration from the point of award acceptance through final reporting. Dan will apply his substantial leadership experience and business skills to the administrative challenges of providing top notch services in support of the world class research conducted at UCSD.
