ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (including UCSD Healthcare)

SUBJECT:  Picture Yourself Here-UCSD Open House 2002

Take a serious topic such as homeland security, add a helpful subject such as how to get into college, spice it up with a fun activity such as fish printing or battlebots and you can "Picture Yourself Here" at Open House 2002.

As this year's theme "Picture Yourself Here" portrays it, a multitude of events and activities will draw visitors of all ages to the main campus for the day. Distinguished faculty will give lectures on current and selective topics such as Homeland Security or--a topic of urgent concern to women--hormone replacement therapy. The state's first poet laureate, UCSD's own Quincy Troupe, will present a poetry reading, and the band "Common Sense" will headline musical entertainment. A special kids zone will offer interactive activities, and there will be a variety of ethnic food available.

We ask your participation on three fronts.

First, please join us from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. October 19 as we invite the campus community as well as our San Diego friends and neighbors to explore the campus and celebrate its achievements as a great academic institution.

Secondly, this is a great opportunity for your department to share with the community. If your department would like to get involved, please visit our Open House website and sign up using our online form.

Thirdly, we encourage you to volunteer at Open House 2002. If you are interested in volunteering for a number of opportunities available, please contact Jill Avery at javery@ucsd.edu or x21574.

All events are free. For more information call (858) 534-1577 or visit http://openhouse.ucsd.edu.

We look forward to seeing you at Open House 2002!
