SUBJECT:  Construction Alert - Gilman Drive at the School of Medicine

UCSD's School of Medicine's Research Facility is being constructed on the southwest corner of Gilman Drive and Myers Drive and is starting its excavation phase. Beginning on Monday, February 4, 2002 and continuing for approximately three weeks, trucks will be exporting the soil removed from the building site off the campus. The primary route will be south along Gilman Drive. We anticipate a large number of trucks and traffic congestion should be expected. In addition, in the event that the City of San Diego closes Gilman Drive due to their construction project, trucks will be re-routed eastbound on Gilman to Voigt Drive.
