SUBJECT: Implementation of the Revised University of California This Notice is provided to announce the implementation of the revised University of California Whistleblower and Whistleblower Protection Policies. The Policies are effective immediately. The University's Policies on Reporting and Investigating Allegations of Suspected Improper Governmental Activities (Whistleblower Policy), and Protection of Whistleblowers from Retaliation and Guidelines for Reviewing Retaliation Complaints (Whistleblower Protection Policy) have been revised to conform with the California Whistleblower Protection Act. The revised Policies replace Business and Finance Bulletin G-29 (Policy and Procedures for Reporting Improper Governmental Activities and Protection Against Retaliation for Reporting Improper Activities) issued December 19, 1989. The UC Whistleblower Policy Task Force drafted the revised Policies. Thereafter, UC Office of the President (UCOP) conducted systemwide reviews of the Policies that encompassed Academic Senate Committees, the Academic Counsel, UC campuses and Laboratories.
