SUBJECT: UC Staff Salaries and Health Care Costs for 2002-03 The UC Office of the President has released important information regarding salaries and health care costs for 2002-03. For policy-covered staff employees, the proposed implementation of the salary increase program for 2002-03 is as follows: * Eligible staff in open salary ranges without steps would receive merit increases averaging 1.5% effective October 1, 2002. Due to the small merit pool, it is recommended that the program be implemented in a manner that relates to employee performance yet recognizes the limited funds available. * Salary range minimums and maximums for open range titles would be adjusted by 1.5% effective October 1, 2002. All salaries are to be within range [no salary is to fall below the new minimum once the merit increases are applied]. * Staff in flat-rated titles or step-based salary ranges would receive a range adjustment with salary increase of 1.5%, with no merit increase program for 2002-2003. * Funding for employee incentive awards will continue to be available. Salary actions for staff in bargaining units with exclusive union representation are subject to the terms negotiated in respective collective bargaining agreements.
