SUBJECT:  "Reflections on 9/11: One Year Later"

All members of the UCSD community are invited to participate in "Reflections on 9/11: One Year Later."

As our nation seeks to renew a sense of unity on the anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks, our campus community will join with other Americans in reflection and remembrance.

DATE: Wednesday, September 11, 2002
TIME: 12:00 Noon - 12:30 p.m.
LOCATION: UCSD Price Center Plaza

We should take this opportunity to come together so we can honor the memory of those who were lost and celebrate the enduring spirit of those who sustain the resilience of our nation.

"Reflections on 9/11: One Year Later" will consist of several events throughout the week of September 9 -13, 2002. In the days and weeks to come, updates about "Reflections on 9/11: One Year Later" events will be posted on my web site and coordinating campus web sites.

I am approving a one-hour administrative leave with pay for the September 11, 2002 event. Supervisors may allow employees a one-hour administrative leave with pay in addition to the regular half hour lunch break to attend this event when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
