UCSD CAMPUS NOTICE University of California, San Diego |
September 16, 2002
SUBJECT: Membership Drive 2002 This year the UCSD Faculty Club celebrates its fifteenth birthday. Over the years, the Club has become an increasingly important contributor to the quality of life on campus, through providing a convivial retreat for friends and colleagues to meet over lunch, special events such as theme dinners, celebrations, and holiday brunches, and a venue for lectures and meetings. With the dramatic growth expected in the campus community, and the increased pressure the growth will bring to all other facilities, the Club will become even more important as a center of social integration--the heart, so to speak, of the campus. Like all clubs, our Club owes its existence to a robust and diversified membership, which means that we are always on the lookout for new members. If you are already a member, please help us to recruit your friends and colleagues. If you are not yet a member, we urge you to become one. If you have been procrastinating, the special offer announced below indicates that NOW IS THE TIME. Though membership carries significant privileges and benefits, we believe that the greater reason to belong is to exercise campus citizenship in a manner that supports this valuable institution. If, however, your motive is partly economic, please note the following membership advantages.
* A substantial discount on the daily lunch buffet. During October and November 2002, we are celebrating our success by reducing the initiation fee from $200 to $100 for those who utilize the payroll-deduction plan. If you have been a member of the UCSD community for less than six months, the initiation fee will be reduced from $100 to $50. The regular monthly dues are $14, an amount that has remained unchanged for ten years; and we hope will remain unchanged for many years to come. Please join the Club. We would be delighted to have you with us.
