Today, as I begin my service as Acting Chancellor, I want to express my appreciation to everyone at UCSD for your support during this leadership transition. The 2003-2004 academic year promises to be a year of great progress as well as challenge, during which the Vice Chancellors and I are committed to sustaining UCSD's remarkable momentum.
