October 14, 2003
ALL STUDENTS AT UCSD SUBJECT: UCSD Open House October 25 UCSD's now-annual Open House on Saturday, Oct. 25, offers an opportunity to show off this amazing campus to the community, family and friends. It's an occasion when we can demonstrate the many activities underway on the campus, from a next generation sensor-laden 'smart car' to pulmonary function breathing tests, from advice on financial resources available for college tuition to a scientific demonstration of how winds and waves affect surfing. In keeping with the 100th anniversary of UCSD's Scripps Institution of Oceanography, the theme of the 2003 Open House is UCSD: Oceans of Fun. Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the general campus, extending to 4 p.m. at Scripps. Shuttles will run continuously between the two locations. I ask your participation in two ways: First, if your department hasn't yet registered to participate, please enroll at http://samoa.ucsd.edu/openhouse2003/createregistration.aspx. Secondly, please bring your family and friends and join in the fun. This important campus tradition provides an unparalleled opportunity for visitors to explore our campus and sample a kaleidoscopic array of academic, health promotion and cultural programs, as well as meet our outstanding students. For further information visit the Open House web site at http://openhouse.ucsd.edu or call 534-6386. I look forward to seeing you October 25.
