ACADEMIC AFFAIRS AND
OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR - October 28, 2003
SUBJECT: Campus Closure on Wednesday, October 29, 2003 At this time, UCSD remains safe from fires in the San Diego region and there is no indication of the need to evacuate. However, given continuing concerns related to the San Diego fires and the well-being of our students, faculty, and staff, UCSD will remain closed on Wednesday, October 29th. Classes have been canceled on Wednesday and only UCSD Healthcare and other essential employees should report to work. Essential employees are those who have an "essential" or "emergency responder" designation on their ID card, support our residential students, or assist with other emergency duties. Student Health Services will remain open for the benefit of resident students. For updated information, please access the campus emergency information line at (888) 308-8273 or the general information line at (858) 534-2230. You can also receive updated information and helpful resources at http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/emergency. We want to extend our deepest sympathies to our students and employees who have experienced losses in this tragedy. We also want to acknowledge the heroic efforts of our students, staff, and faculty who have done so much over the past few days to help our campus and others in need throughout San Diego.
