ACADEMIC AFFAIRS AND
OFFICE OF THE VICE CHANCELLOR - October 29, 2003
SUBJECT: Campus Open on Thursday, October 30, 2003 The University of California, San Diego will be open and classes will be held on Thursday, October 30th. At this time, UCSD remains safe from the remaining fires in the San Diego region, and the air quality has significantly improved on the campus. Although the campus will reopen, some employees may have fire-related emergencies that will prevent their return tomorrow. These employees should notify their supervisors, and will be granted administrative leave with pay through Friday, October 31, 2003. For updated information, please access the campus emergency information line at (888) 308-8273 or the general information line at (858) 534-2230. You can also receive updated information and helpful resources at http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/emergency. Again, we want to express our gratitude to our students, faculty, and staff during this very difficult time in San Diego. So many people on the campus have helped those impacted by the fires, and they have truly made a difference. Many of these same people have tirelessly worked over the past few days to support our residential students, patients in our clinical facilities, and other critical campus operations during this emergency. You have again proven your dedication, caring, and competence that defines the UC San Diego community.
