SUBJECT:  Organizational Changes in Business & Financial Services

Nick Johnston, Assistant Controller - Accounting and Reporting and Manager, General Accounting Division, has announced his intention to retire early in 2004 after twenty-seven years of service to UCSD.

Effective immediately, Nick has been asked to focus his efforts for the next few months on projects that will further enhance the quality, functionality, and control aspects of our financial and accounting systems. To enable the continuation of the excellent service of the General Accounting Division to the Campus, Dennis Beeson has been appointed Interim Manager of the General Accounting Division.

I thank Nick and Dennis for their many years of leadership in accounting and reporting, and for willingly accepting these new responsibilities. A search will be commenced immediately for a Manager, General Accounting Division.
