SUBJECT:  Faculty Service on Campuswide Ad Hoc Review Committees

We write to remind each of you of the importance of your service on campus ad hoc review committees. Your cooperation benefits the entire University and ensures that the work of your peers will receive the objective, expert review it deserves.

On occasions when CAP determines that the expertise and input of an ad hoc committee is required, the Acting Senior Vice Chancellor will appoint faculty he and CAP deem most qualified to serve on the committee and will advise them in writing of the appointment. Generally, faculty will not be appointed to more than one ad hoc review committee per academic year. Faculty unable to serve must write directly to Acting Senior Vice Chancellor Miller to explain the basis for their request. Note that release from service can only be allowed in the most compelling circumstances.

Your effort in making service on a campus ad hoc committee an important priority is very much appreciated.
