SUBJECT:  Recognizing UCSD Employees for Service During Campus Closures

This Notice serves to provide several campus options for recognizing the service of UCSD employees who worked during the recent campus closure due to the fires in San Diego County (October 27, 28, and 29). As you are aware, the campus was closed on the referenced days to all but essential employees. For the purpose of this recognition, essential employees are those who had an "essential" or "emergency responder" designation, supported our residential students, or assisted with other emergency duties and who reported to work for one or more of the designated days of closure.

The options available to recognize employees for their services during this campus closure are as follows:

* Cash award through employee incentive awards program paid with
   department funds through Payroll
* Non-negotiable gift certificate up to $75
* Non-cash award, such as a plaque
* Special department recognition event

If you have any questions about employee recognition awards and associated UCSD policy, please contact Jenni Leibman, Director of Employee Relations, at (858) 534-4136 or jleibman@ucsd.edu.
