SUBJECT:  Administrative Leave to Help UCSD and San Diego Recover

The purpose of this Campus Notice is to announce and promote the use of administrative leave to help our UCSD colleagues who have lost their homes to the recent fires or to assist one of the many fire-related non-profit community relief efforts going on around San Diego County. This program of administrative leave with pay--commencing immediately and ending Wednesday, November 26--is a reflection of UCSD's mission of community service.

For those employees wishing to take advantage of this program:

* Each instance of administrative leave must be approved by the department head.
* Up to four hours per week of administrative leave with pay may be approved.
* The four hours may be taken in a block of time or intermittently
   throughout a given week.
* Employee absences should not infringe upon the operations of the University.

Thank you for your continued efforts to help UCSD colleagues and the San Diego community recover from the effects of last week's fires.
