SUBJECT:  UCSD Diversity Council 2003-2005

It is with great pleasure that I announce the new members of the UCSD Diversity Council. The Diversity Council was established in 1998 and was charged to advise me of opportunities that may exist in fostering inter-group communication. We realize that creating and maintaining a diverse community enhances our academic atmosphere and provides us with tools to promote our campus Principles of Community.

As Chief Diversity Officer, I feel it is vital that we understand our changing environment and how diversity awareness through education will provide us with the cultural skills to work effectively in our ever changing global society.

I would like to again thank Professor Russell Doolittle for his leadership in assuming the role as Chair of this newly formed council. In addition, I would also like to thank each of the council members below for their time and effort towards this important endeavor and service to the UCSD Community.
