SUBJECT:  Revised BFB RMP-1, University Records Management Program

The University Records Management Program has been revised effective August, 2003. RMP-1 is the first product of a project to update and reorganize the entire Records Management and Privacy (RMP) series of bulletins.

Program objectives are to promote sound, efficient, and economical records management to meet operational, legal, and regulatory needs and other administrative and business requirements. The revised bulletin sets forth updated language, position titles, and responsibilities. It also emphasizes the applicability of the records management program to records stored on all types of media. The terms "record proprietor" and "record custodian" have replaced the use of "office of record."
