ADMINISTRATIVE COMPUTING AND
TELECOMMUNICATIONS

January 16, 2004

ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (including UCSD Healthcare)

SUBJECT:    Financial Systems: Restrictions to Viewing SSN and FEIN

Administrative Computing and Telecommunications (ACT), in collaboration with BFS Systems, Purchasing, Travel and Disbursements, are prepared to implement security measures to core campus Financial Systems. These changes are to meet federal/state law, university policy, safeguard identification and Social Security Number use.

On the weekend of January 24, 2004 identification numbers assigned within IFIS for traveler, employee, or vendor identification will be represented by a system assigned number. The FINANCIAL ID will be displayed on application reports, screens and Web pages. Viewing of Social Security Number (SSN) and Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) will be explicitly restricted.

This conversion will affect IFIS, FinancialLink, TravelLink and the Data Warehouse including QueryLink. Detailed information on how it affects the use of each of these systems and contact information is available on the following site:
