ACADEMIC SENATE MEMBERS KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF
The Institute for International, Comparative, and Area Studies (IICAS) announces a competition for travel grants to support graduate student research in international, comparative, and area studies. The travel grants will be awarded for two purposes: dissertation research and conference travel for the purposes of presenting a paper. Dissertation research will be given priority in the awards. Awards: Awards will be made for travel between December 2004 and June 2005. Awards will not exceed $2,000. The awards may be used to cover expenses for travel in the U.S. or abroad. Eligibility: All UCSD graduate students. Applicants must be registered UCSD students during the period of the proposed travel. Application Requirements: All student applications must include 1) one-page budget outline
2) project description or conference paper proposal (no more than 3) a resume or curriculum vitae 4) transcript
5) one letter of endorsement from a UCSD faculty member familiar Applications should be addressed to Diana F. Wilder, MSO, IICAS, Mail Code 0539. Electronic submissions are acceptable (dfwilder@ucsd.edu). Applications must be received at IICAS no later than 4:30 PM on November 23, 2004. The IICAS Advisory Committee will announce the results of the competition by early December 2004. A second cycle in this competition for AY 2005-2006 will be announced in spring 2005. Reporting Requirements: All recipients must agree to acknowledge assistance from IICAS in any thesis, publication, or other product that results from IICAS-supported research.
