Subject:    The Leichtag Family Foundation Biomedical Research Building Dedication

With the approval of the University of California President, University of California, San Diego Health Sciences announces the dedication of The Leichtag Family Foundation Biomedical Research Building.

On August 15, 2003, The Leichtag Family Foundation gave a $12 million long-term gift to UCSD to fund biomedical research focusing on childhood diseases. In recognition, the new biomedical research building on the School of Medicine campus ~ a state-of-the-art facility that will provide critically needed laboratory space for UCSD's expanding biomedical research programs ~ has been named The Leichtag Family Foundation Biomedical Research Building.

The Leichtag Family Foundation views the search for the cure of childhood disease as a value that is central to our nation's future. Through research it is hoped that new cures and solutions will be discovered. In the process, research doctors and scientists will be educated, supported and motivated, while they seek to advance the health and well being of our children.

A ceremony to publicly honor The Leichtag Family Foundation and to formally dedicate the building is planned for Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. Please join me for the dedication ceremony and reception in the lobby at The Leichtag Family Foundation Biomedical Research Building.

For more information or to RSVP for the ceremony, please contact Kristi S. Worley (619) 543-3473, kworley@ucsd.edu.
