Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day

Each year on the fourth Thursday of April employers across the country participate in Take Our Daughters and Sons To Work Day. Programs and activities planned are intended to promote a sense of place and voice in the world of work for girls and boys ages 8-12. Children of faculty, staff and students will be exposed to a variety of careers and are welcomed and encouraged to participate.

This year's event will take place on Thursday, April 22, 2004. Registration and breakfast will be from 8:30 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. at the Rady School of Management Green, in front of the Women's Center - University Center Building 407. Programs and activities will be held from 9:30 am - 2:00 pm at various campus locations. A schedule of events and registration information are available at http://www.ucsd.edu/women. Registration forms must be completed and mailed to the Women's Center mail code 0096 by Wednesday, April 14, 2004. In recognition of this event, I am approving a one-hour administrative leave with pay on Thursday, April 22nd so that employees may participate in this annual event with their children. Therefore, supervisors are encouraged to grant employees one hour of administrative leave with pay when the absence does not infringe upon the performance of required job duties.
