Appointment of Thurgood Marshall College Writing Program Director

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Abe Shragge has been appointed Director of the Dimensions of Culture Program at Thurgood Marshall College. He replaces Dr. Fraser Cocks who served for eleven years in this position since the inception of the DOC core curriculum.

Dr. Shragge received his Ph.D from the Department of History at UCSD and quickly established himself as an exemplary teacher at UCSD teaching courses in the departments of History, Urban Studies and Planning, and Thurgood Marshall College. Students have always appreciated his enthusiasm and commitment as demonstrated by stellar CAPE evaluations.

Abe Shragge has been associated with the UCSD Civic Collaborative and has extensive involvement with San Diego community organizations. For the past two years, he has taught the Public Service in America (TMC 15) and courses in San Diego History. His intellectual and civic engagement interests articulate well with Thurgood Marshall College general education requirements that link public service and academic excellence.
