ALL ACADEMICS AND STAFF AT UCSD (excluding UCSD Healthcare)

SUBJECT:    September is Campus Preparedness Month

In coordination with a national effort lead by the federal Department of Homeland Security, we are promoting September as campus preparedness month. During this time of national reflection on the tragic events of September 11, 2001 we are encouraging all members of the campus community to dedicate time out of your busy schedule to prepare yourself, your staff, and your family for natural, technological and human caused disasters.

This is an excellent opportunity to review with colleagues and family, what to do in the event of a disaster. Please take time in September to review the campus Emergency Management Plan, your Department Emergency Action Plan, and your Personal Supplies Checklist for emergency events.

Find details on each of these topics at:
http://blink.ucsd.edu/go/emergencyprep

Beyond the tragic nature of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attack is the equally disturbing fact that few Americans are presently prepared to respond to a disaster event. Let's not allow this charge to go unanswered at UCSD.

If you need any assistance regarding emergency preparedness efforts, please contact the UCSD Manager of Emergency Services within the department of Environment, Health and Safety, Phillip Van Saun, at (858) 534-1064.
