New Director of Faculty and Staff Assistance Program Appointed

I am pleased to announce that Equilla Luke has been selected to fill the position of Director, Faculty and Staff Assistance Program and will assume her responsibilities on Tuesday, February 1, 2005.

Equilla is a seasoned professional in the field of supervising and providing mental health services in a university setting. She comes to us most recently from the California State University's (CSU) Sacramento campus, where she has served as the Director of Psychological Counseling Services and Employee Assistance Program for the past four years. In this capacity she has been responsible for overseeing the financial and clinical components of mental health services for the university community. Prior to this position, Equilla was UCSD's Chief Psychologist for Psychological and Counseling Services for our student population. Her background also includes counseling positions at CSU, Long Beach and Iowa State University.

Equilla received her Masters in Education and her Ph.D. in Counselor Education from Iowa State University.

I am confident that the breadth and depth of Equilla's experience, her expertise in the field of mental health services, and her collaborative approach, will greatly contribute to the Human Resources Department's ability to provide essential services to the university.
