Save the Date for Chancellor Marye Anne Fox Inauguration

On Thursday, March 3, 2005, the campus community and our friends will celebrate the inauguration of Marye Anne Fox as the seventh chancellor of the University of California, San Diego. As chair of the Inauguration Planning Committee and on behalf of my colleagues, I am pleased to provide initial details of the inauguration and hope you will save the date for these important events in the life of our university.

The theme for the inauguration is "Together We Can Achieve the Extraordinary," and we are excited that the theme captures the spirit of UCSD. All faculty, staff, students, and our neighbors and friends are invited to the inaugural ceremony in RIMAC Arena at 10:00 a.m. and to the All-UCSD Barbecue at the RIMAC Field immediately following the inauguration. We estimate the barbecue will begin at noon.

At 4:30 p.m., UCSD is proud to host the 2005 Kyoto Laureate Symposium Basic Sciences Presentation that will feature 2005 Kyoto Prize recipient Alfred G. Knudson. The presentation in the Price Center Ballroom is one of a series of Kyoto Laureate Symposium activities cosponsored by UCSD, San Diego State University, and the University of San Diego. The presentation will conclude at 6:00 p.m.
