STUDENT AFFAIRS

October 10, 2005

KEY ADMINISTRATORS/KEY SUPPORT STAFF

SUBJECT:    Appointment of Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor-
Student Affairs

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Cynthia Davalos as Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor-Student Affairs, effective October 10, 2005. Cynthia succeeds Darlene Willis, who resigned to assume the position of Dean of Students at San Diego State University.

Cynthia comes to us from the Design/Media Arts Department at UCLA where she has served as both an undergraduate and graduate advisor and admissions counselor and as Assistant Director of the Summer Institute, a 4-week college level summer program for advanced high school students. Prior to that, she served as the program manager and advisor to the Alumni Scholars Club for the UCLA Alumni Association where she directed major events in outreach and student services. Cynthia has also held the position of Project Coordinator for the Institute for Peace and Justice at the University of San Diego.

In her role as Special Assistant, Cynthia will serve as the Student Affairs liaison for outreach efforts at the campus, community, state, and national levels, and coordinate and manage Student Affairs programs and new initiatives involving the delivery of services and information to students.

Cynthia received her Bachelor of Arts in History at the UC Santa Barbara and her Master of Arts in History at the University of San Diego.

I hope you will join me in welcoming Cynthia to UCSD. Cynthia will be located at 112 University Center and may be reached at 822-4586.
