SUBJECT:	UCSD Reaffirmation of Accreditation by the Western
	Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC)

During the past nine months, the Senate-Administration Advisory Committee has been planning for our next round of accreditation activities. This Committee has crafted a proposal that will soon be submitted to WASC for its consideration. The Committee has identified four major themes that will be the center of our self-study activities. These themes center on freshman writing, foreign language instruction, undergraduate program review, and information literacy.

If the proposal is accepted by WASC, it will serve as the road map for our accreditation activities that will involve two campus visits by review teams and reaffirmation of our status as an accredited institution during the 2009-2010 academic year.

A draft of the proposal and accompanying appendix materials have been posted to an expanded campus accreditation website at accreditation.ucsd.edu. You are invited to review the proposal and to offer any comments or suggestions. If you are interested in participating in the accreditation process, we would welcome your input.
